August news: The RDS ran from the 3rd-7th. It was a very busy week because aswell
as Sean competing we also had Molly and Clamper in doing the pony rides.
There was a huge crowd each morning to ride the ponies, they were definitely
in huge demand.
Sean competed on the Wednesday and Friday and had two lovely clear rounds
both days. He finished up in the top 12 with Newgrange Lady.
It was a successful week all round and we had great help from all of
our liveries and the yard kids helping with the pony rides. A huge thank
you to all.
13th- Sean ran another boot camp this week and this week he really put
riders to the test by doing a puissance (photos to follow). Well done
to our final winner Charlie Staunton on Jonny and to Kaitlyn Nolan on
Zara who was a very close 2nd.
21st- We held our leg of the Carton Kilrainey challenge. It was a huge
success with great food from our caterers, a brilliant commentator and
a huge turn out. Well done to Kilrainey riders who were placed 1st and
a huge congrats to our 6 teams who all got into the jump off and we were
placed 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th.
We have set dates for our Autumen Showjumping League:
18th,25th,2nd October(final)
There will be mini, midi, pre-midi(adult only) and maxi.
A leaderboard will be place in the office e each week.
We hope to see all of our competitors here as there are great trophies
and prizes to be won ay the final.
July news:
Pony
camp ran every week throughout the month with some new and some old faces
returning each week. We would like to welcome back a particularly old face to the yard who
due to the leaving cert and study commitments had to take a years break.
Katie Twyford-Long has been with us for over 7 years and it is always
a pleasure to welcome back old customers.
The South county Dublin hunt show took place in Coilog which was a great
weekend for everyone. Sean won the opening 1.10 speed stakes on Rachels
Kilpatrick Fred on the friday.
Stephen was 2nd in the 1.10 young rider division on Saturday.
Sunday was a very busy day for everyone as all of our junior team competed
as well. Congrats to Cian Smith on competing at his very first show and
Hope Lowney. The pair will soon overtake their older brothers in the
saddle.
Well done to Gavin Smith who was a busy man riding that day and also
Con Lowney, Aaron Kearns and Kailtyn Nolan.
To top the day off Sean was placed 2nd in the 1.05 speed class on Kilpatrick
Fred and Stephen won the 1.05 young rider divisions on his own Zandor.
It was brilliant to see such a huge support for team Carton at this
event.
We would also like to congratulate our newest addition to the Kavanagh
show jumpers; Ms Rachel Kavanagh who attended her first show on Clamper
this July. She is doing brilliant and it is only a matter of time before
she passes out Sean.
June news: The summer had officially began in the stables with some
of the gang leasing ponies out while on their holidays.
We are also going
to Kill each week with the junior team if anyone is
interested in competing.
June showjumping news
11th,12th, 13th- Mullingar 2*
International show took place. Sean won the 1m class on the saturday
with Kilpatrick Fred. He also qualified
Newgrange lady for the 4 year old international final.
Stephen was placed 2nd in the 1m class on the Sunday. He also qualified
for the 1m final on the Monday.
Final results: Sean was placed 7th out
of 36 4 year old horses competing
in the internationally judged competition. This was Newgrange ladys first
4 year old competition.
Stephen won the 1m final on the Monday which had over 40 competitors
all trying to win the generous prize money, rug and crystal. Well done
Stephen and we will have photos to follow.
25th- Sean managed to qualify his
and Arran Dunne’s
4 year old mare Newgrange Lady into the 4 year old class in the RDS.
This will make the RDS week even more exciting and we hope to see everyone
there.
May news:
2nd-
The whole Carton gang attended an Interyards challenge in Kilrainey equestrian
which was a long but enjoyable day. There was 22 teams in
total, 10 representing Carton. For some of our riders it was their first
ever show so a big congrats to all who competed. It was an exciting jump
off to watch and Kilrainey took 1st place while Carton came 2nd and 4th.
It
is getting very close to summer now so keep an eye out for show dates
and information on the RDS week.
April news:
Our
Easter pony camp was held both weeks of the holidays . We hope everyone
who attended had as much fun as we had.
Also we would like to say a big
happy birthday to Orlagh Braun who had her birthday party at the
yard. It was a great day and the cake was even
better!!
We would also like to give a big welcome to our newest addition
to the Carton liveries; Sinead Bailey who has recently purchased a lovely
mare
named Lily. We wish you all the best of luck with her Sinead and look
forward to seeing the two of you progress together.
Another new addition
to the yard is Bell Donnas foal who was born on the 23rd of April (photos
to follow).
March news:
Our
St Patricks day show was held on Sunday the 20th. Upon much interest
we decided to run an adults only pre-midi class which went
down very
well . Our new arrival to the yard Shane Duffy managed to take the leading
trophy for this new class on Tyler.
Well done to all those who won and
received placings.
February news:
6th-
Our second beach ride was held due to the keen interest.
22nd-25th- Our
mid-term pony camp commenced with a great turn out we also ran our
boot camp with chef d’equipe
Sean which was quite challenging but a worth while week for all of
the gang, and there was
a trip to the forest as well which was an enjoying day out.
January
'11 news:
Happy
New year everyone and a busy one it will be with all of our events coming
up.
23rd- Congratulations to Rachael Briggs who won our midi competition
and brought home a well deserved trophy.
Also Congratulations to Aine
O’Connell on her
own pony Freda who won the maxi class, it was very close in time between
1st and 2nd but
Aine bet her own sister in order to gain the cup.
It was a great day had
by all and thanks to everyone for their support and help with preparation.
30th-
Our first beach ride of the year kicked off with great success and a
huge turnout. We had no jockeys swimming this time!!!
December news:
Our
annual Christmas show has been postponed until the 23rd of January due
to weather conditions. We look forward to seeing
everyone.We would like to wish all of our customers a Happy Christmas
and we
look forward to seeing everyone in the New year.
We are excited about
our newest arrival to the yard who only came this month. The kingdom(louie)
is a new horse which Sean
has purchased with
Irish International rider Cian O’Connor ,this is a new venture
for the pair and we look forward to seeing them compete.
In the same week
we also said farewell to our Leading competition horse Zara who was sold
to Holland. It was a shame to see her go but we have
been informed that we is currently on the leader board in several Grand
Prix classes abroad. We wish her new owner the best of luck and we will
be monitoring her success.
